The K-12 Cyber Security Pathways Program is a Baylor-led initiative through the Central Texas Cyber Hub (CTCH) designed to create a secondary-education cybersecurity pathway that prepares students for college degrees or immediate workforce entry. With approximately 514,000 open cybersecurity jobs nationwide and 42,559 open positions in Texas alone (as of August 2025), the demand for skilled cyber professionals is critical and urgent.
The Vision
The CTCH aims to become the premier provider of trained cyber workforce talent across the United States. We believe that building a sustainable pipeline begins in high school, giving students the foundation and certifications to launch careers immediately after graduation or pursue advanced degrees.
Program Benefits:
- Community support and educational commitment to Central Texas
- STEAM-focused learning opportunities
- Industry partners directly investing in their communities
- No-cost solution for participating school districts
The Curriculum
Students complete five specialized cybersecurity courses within an approved Texas Education Agency (TEA) career pathway. Upon completion, students earn industry-recognized certifications, including:
- CompTIA Tech+
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA Network+
These certifications provide immediate credentials valued by employers and open doors to both entry-level jobs and higher education pathways.
